POP proposed to construct a single apartment complex containing eleven units of housing with two common areas: a ground floor workspace and roof terrace/garden.
This was to be a low carbon project (during and after construction) that combined hempcrete, timber framing, solar technologies, water capture systems and growing areas. It was also a car-less development with secure cycle storage for residents and use of the wider community.
The bid was unsuccessful but we are proud of the quality and integrity of our vision.
65 tonnes of CO2 saved in construction.
6x less embodied carbon than concrete.
Combination of C24 structural stud-work and manufactured timber such as GLULAM make a rigid structural frame to been cased in glass and hempcrete.
